In episode two of the Norwegian podcast series about whistleblowers in the horse world, I interviewed photographer and fine artist Crispin Parelius Johannessen, who for over a decade has been documenting equestrian sports with a focus on the lives of horses performing at the highest levels.
The Norwegian episode aired about a month ago, but, Crispin and I recorded a second episode when we met. An English episode where we dive significantly deeper into the subject matter. And we accompany the episode with moving images this time. And by moving images, I mean still photos, what we in the film industry refer to as frames, put together into sequences to illustrate something important. And while we’re talking about illustrating something important: Crispin’s incredibly detailed photographs form the basis of the presentation ‘Bridle Pain in Dressage Horses,’ which was presented to the FEI’s Veterinary Committee on April 9th of this year. And this is a presentation that should be mandatory viewing for everyone involved with horses, regardless of discipline or level.
