EP24: MEET AMY SKINNER

Today’s guest, Amy Skinner embraces a training philosophy based on Classical Dressage and sound horsemanship practices.  Her goal is to keep the best interest of horse and rider in mind, choosing to avoid fads and quick fixes and seek continual learning from the best teacher any rider can ever have: the horse. I found some videos of her horsework on an online event, and her approach made me curious and I reached out to ask her for an interview. Because I think it is real important to look beyond the flashy stuff that people are soo used to see where man fights with horse and there is a lot of action going on – action that too often results in a horse full of distress and discomfort. I will much rather highlight trainers who take the time needed to teach the horse to respond through understanding and cooperation, rather than through reaction and fear.
